Bellator 127 Main Card results Grove vs. M'Pumbu

P'Pumbu makes a weight drop to middle weight to face his first oppenent Kendall Grove. Christian looks lean and mean at 185, lets see how does against the UFC vet Kendall Grove.

Rd. 1

Kendall comes out right away and throws a monster straight right! Some strikes are exchanged throughout the round but the bulk of it is a grappling match against the cage.

Rd. 2

Much of the round is a feeling out period with no significant strikes from either side. 3 minutes in a scramble lands them to the ground, Kendall ends up getting the back of M'Pumbu and he finishes him via rear naked choke.

Official result: Kendall Grove finishes Christian M'Pumbu via rear naked choke in the 2nd rd at 4:14

Status of the Stockton Slap?

If you’re a fan of the Diaz Brothers, Nick and Nate, then you gotta be caught up in the latest from the Cesar Gracie trained fighters.

Nate Diaz recently went to twitter to tweet about wanting his release from the UFC. Nate has been a contender at both 170 and 155, and maybe his latest loss to Josh “The Punk” Thompson got to him in a fight that most picked Nate to win. He unfortunately got knocked out and seemed to be overmatched from the start. Nate is a danger to anybody and his BJJ and striking is a combo most fighters strive to have. Not sure if his request to be released is a ploy? Or if he perhaps wants to test the waters in another organization where, say Bellator, he would have a huge advantage over most of the competition. Whatever the case is, as a fan of Nate, I wish him the best.

Brother Nick, albeit supposed retirement, was definitely making his presence felt at UFC 171 in Dallas this past weekend. During the weigh in it has been noted that Nick was taunting 170lb contender Johnny Hendricks who failed to make weight on the first attempt, he later made weight a couple hours later. Perhaps Nick was using this tactic to try and set up a future shot with Hendricks. Speaking of which, Diaz was in the crowd for the fights and was seen sitting with Training Partner and UFC Bantamweight Women’s champ Rhonda Rousey. Post UFC 171 Nick made it known in interviews that he vows to return to the 170lb division and was hinting at an automatic championship shot upon his return. Now we know the 170lb division is stacked. There are plenty of matchups to be made with a handful of contenders. The likes of Tyron Woodley, Rory Macdonald, Robbie Lawler, and Carlos Condit just to name a few. And don’t forget about the former champ, GSP, who is on a self -imposed hiatus from the sport.

Nick Diaz is a danger, both on his feet and on the ground, but most experts see him as not getting a title shot upon his return and may have to fight at least a couple of times to earn his shot granted he is successful.

As the future of the Diaz Brothers hasn’t fully played out they are established in the sport and controversial figures who aren’t shy about telling it like it is.

I would like to see the “Stockton Slap” creators continue to do their thing in the sport regardless of what organization they choose to go to or if they remain with the UFC. Stay tuned as the Diaz Brothers saga continues……
